Trying to sort out London to New York in Dec 2026 with a BA cabin upgrade voucher and getting mixed advice. BA told me the outbound should open in about 19 days at the usual T-355 mark, but the return might end up cash if I book things separately. BA Holidays would solve that, but then I can’t use the voucher.
So I’m leaning toward grabbing the outbound the second it drops with Avios + the upgrade, then hoping the return shows Avios inventory when it opens. If not, I guess buying the return in cash is normal for this kind of setup.
Anyone else do it this way? Outbound first, return later, hotel booked separately and cancellable? And any T-355 tips for actually securing the outbound at midnight?
