Quick heads up for anyone tempted to upgrade last second.
I was flying Denver to Ontario and saw I could use 20 PlusPoints to instantly move to first. Grabbed 1A, then switched to 3A because I hate bulkheads.
I’m 1K so this was right as preboarding started.
Suddenly my app wouldn’t load my boarding pass. Gate agent sends me to the side and the other agent tells me I don’t have a seat anymore. Not even in economy. Just… gone. And I’d need to find another flight.
I honestly thought he was joking.
Some off duty FA stepped in and offered to take the jumpseat so I could have his seat. Absolute legend.
End result? I went from 21F to 14B and had to chase United to get my PlusPoints back.
Just feels like a glitch that could’ve gone really bad. I’m definitely not touching upgrades once boarding starts again.
