OP needed a room for World Cup weekend in Seattle. Cash rates were wild. $500+ a night basically everywhere decent, close to $1000 for two nights even after a $300 Bilt credit.
Checked Hyatt out of desperation and found 18k points per night at a place going for around $750 cash. For a peak holiday weekend. And it’s refundable.
That’s when Hyatt clicks for people. When cash prices go crazy but award rates are still somewhat reasonable.
Hard not to feel a little annoyed you didn’t start transferring sooner. But at least you figured it out before paying $1k for two nights.
