I’m 29F and recently flew long haul with BA and used their flight provided oxygen. There’s not much info out there about how it actually works, so figured I’d share.
BA allows one passenger per long haul flight to use their onboard oxygen. You have to submit medical forms ahead of time, including a physician form. My pulmonologist filled it out without any issues.
They provide pulse oxygen at set levels. I was offered 2L or 4L pulse. I normally use 1.5L continuous, and the 4L pulse worked fine for me overnight. They gave me a small metal canister with their own cannula setup. My personal cannulas didn’t fit.
They brought the oxygen setup after takeoff once we were at cruising altitude and took it back before landing, since I don’t need oxygen at sea level.
Boarding was straightforward. I just let a flight attendant know I was the passenger approved for in flight oxygen. If you’re using a wheelchair you’d likely pre board.
Route was PIT to LHR and back for the long haul segments with BA oxygen, and I used my POC on the shorter European legs.
Overall, it was a smooth process and much less stressful than I expected.
