As someone who loves planning trips to big U.S. cities, it’s wild to see just how much tourism is declining across the country in 2025. According to TTW, places like New York, California, and Florida are seeing major drops in international travelers due to geopolitical tensions, stricter borders, and economic worries. NYC alone could lose 3 million visitors and $12.5 billion in spending. Even hotspots like LA, Orlando, and Vegas are feeling it through empty hotels and fewer rentals.
I’ve personally noticed smaller crowds in big tourist spots this summer. Great if you like quiet vacations, but it makes you wonder about the long-term effects on local businesses and tourism workers.
Anyone else see changes while traveling this year? And how do you think the U.S. can bounce back from this?
