Had one of those weird AA moments today. I was first on the upgrade list at boarding but the app showed zero seats left in first, so I just went to my seat and figured it didn’t clear.
Then the last passenger boards, looks confused, talks to the flight attendant, and she just points him to the empty first class seat. No checking the list, no asking anyone.
A few minutes later I grab my phone and see I actually got the upgrade text… after boarding. Guess the FA had already given the seat away.
Honestly I could’ve said something before the door closed, but I didn’t feel like making a scene. Just took the L.
Lesson learned though. Watching the phone until the door shuts next time
