Saw this deep dive and the short answer is yes. United’s got a 7/7 safety rating and hasn’t had a fatal crash in over 30 years outside of 9/11. That said, they’ve had their share of incidents lately engine shutdowns, runway excursions, panels falling off, etc. The kind of stuff that makes headlines but so far hasn’t led to serious injuries.
What stood out to me was how much their crews are credited for handling situations well. Extra pilot training started in 2024 after that rough stretch, and they’re also refreshing the fleet. Makes me feel better about sticking with them, even if maintenance questions linger.
