This new United booking UI is… not great. Collapsing the normal and refundable fares and only showing the higher one by default makes zero sense, especially with how weird Premium Plus pricing can be.
In some cases the refundable Premium Plus fare is actually cheaper than the nonrefundable one, but now that cheaper option is hidden. So Premium Plus ends up looking more expensive than Business when it isn’t. If you don’t click around carefully, you’d never know.
Feels sloppy and kind of misleading. I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns people off from Premium Plus entirely because they think they’re being upsold past Business.
Hopefully this gets fixed, because right now it feels like a UI decision that ignores how their own pricing works.
