Flight UA821 (Bangkok to Hong Kong) has been retimed, with the notice stating the change is due to crew not having sufficient rest time required by federal regulations. The new departure time is 5:05pm on June 15.
I’m trying to understand how this is determined so far in advance. Does United’s scheduling system predict crew duty/rest violations this precisely ahead of time, or is this typically the result of upstream disruptions such as weather delays or earlier schedule ripple effects (for example, Chicago storms impacting rotations)?
This change also tightens my connection time for UA878, so I’m trying to understand how likely further adjustments might be.
