I had a very positive experience with United Airlines recently.
I was in Barcelona and had already checked in for my return flight home to Southern California when I received a message warning about possible weather delays affecting my connection through Chicago O’Hare. The message included an option to change flights at no additional cost.
I decided to take that option and switched to a route through Frankfurt with a direct flight to Los Angeles. As a result, I arrived home in the early afternoon.
Out of curiosity, I later checked my original itinerary. The Chicago to Los Angeles leg ended up being delayed by about 5 hours, with an expected arrival time around 3:45 am. My original plan would have had me getting home late at night, so the change saved me significant time.
While I did miss out on some extra hours in Barcelona, I am very satisfied that United provided a proactive solution that helped me avoid a major delay.
