Yesterday's nationwide ground stop on United Airlines due to a "technology disruption" caught a lot of us off guard. Flights were paused for hours starting around 5:12 p.m., and while they’ve resolved the issue, delays are expected to linger. The issue came from Unimatic, the system that handles flight data like timing and weight calculations. Thankfully, it wasn’t a cybersecurity breach.
I wasn’t flying but had friends stuck at Bush Airport in Houston, and the stress was real. United is offering free rescheduling with waived change fees for flights through August 16. It’s good they’re being flexible, but this kind of tech failure makes me nervous about flying during peak times.
Anyone else impacted or stuck in the chaos? And has anyone successfully rebooked yet without a hassle?
