I booked a Basic Economy ticket on United Airlines and selected a specific aisle seat in advance. My printed boarding pass also showed that assigned seat.
However, when I boarded the flight, another passenger was already sitting in my seat. We compared boarding passes and discovered that we were both assigned the same seat. After checking my mobile boarding pass, I noticed my seat had been changed to a different one without my knowledge, even though I had specifically selected and paid for that seat.
The flight attendant and gate agent were not very helpful at the time, although the agent did mention I would receive a refund and compensation for the inconvenience. So far, I have only received a refund, but no additional compensation.
I’m wondering if others have experienced something similar and what the best course of action would be.
