Just saw United is rolling out preorder only fresh meals in economy on longer domestic and Caribbean flights. Burgers, sandwiches, snack boxes, all ordered in the app ahead of time. Starting March 1, sounds like you won’t be able to buy fresh entrees onboard anymore unless you preordered.
On one hand, I kind of like knowing my food won’t be sold out before the cart reaches my row. That part is nice. On the other hand, making preorder basically mandatory feels very United. Forget to order or book last minute and you’re stuck with snack boxes.
Curious how this actually plays out in real life. Could be great, or could be another small way flying economy gets more rigid.
