I booked an economy award ticket with American Airlines miles from Dallas/Fort Worth to Buenos Aires for early July. Recently, I was able to upgrade the ticket to business class for a relatively low cash price.
Earlier checks showed no upgrade offers or very high prices, but when I checked again closer to the travel date, the upgrade price had dropped significantly and I immediately accepted it.
I suspect the lower price may be related to reduced demand on that specific travel date as well as general airline pricing behavior, although I’m not certain.
Either way, I’m excited since this will be my first long-haul business class experience with American Airlines, including a lie-flat seat and access to the Flagship lounge at DFW. I’m also looking for seat recommendations on the Boeing 787-8.
