I recently flew round trip from Montreal to London with British Airways. Before the flight, I paid for an extra checked bag (£65) and selected exit row seats (£95 total, split into two payments). I have receipts and confirmations for all of these charges, including the seat numbers.
However, about five days after returning, I noticed an additional charge of £142.40 from British Airways on my bank account. I have no record or receipt that explains this amount.
I contacted the airline, and they told me to dispute the charge through my bank. When I did, my bank responded that the airline had provided “strong evidence” supporting the charge, but they wouldn’t share any details of that evidence.
When I followed up again with British Airways, they insisted the extra charge was for seating, even though I already paid £95 for those seats and have proof. They also mentioned they can’t access a full breakdown of charges since the flight has already been completed, which is confusing, since the charge appeared after the trip.
Now I’m stuck going back and forth between the airline and my bank, with no clear explanation and still out £142.40.
