Underwhelmed by Kimpton Fitzroy London

Stayed two nights at the Kimpton Fitzroy and came away pretty disappointed. The Queen room felt extremely cramped. Very little usable surface space, and only one electrical outlet that could realistically be used. I was constantly unplugging the kettle, coffee machine, and phone charger. Not great for a hotel at this level.

Breakfast was fine, but nowhere near what I’d expect from a Kimpton. Cheap juices, canned fruit, fake maple syrup, and genuinely bad coffee. All à la carte items cost extra, which isn’t always the case at other Kimptons I’ve stayed at. Service charge is added automatically, yet there’s still a big gratuity line on the bill.

Because it was holiday season, there were private events almost every night. Loud music until around 10pm. Not awful, but definitely noticeable and annoying when you’re trying to relax.

At checkout, I was also told they charge a £15 staff gratuity unless you object. This was after I’d already left a cash tip in the room. On a stay that cost over $1k for two nights, that left a bad taste.

Overall, the building is beautiful, but the experience felt more style than substance. Curious if others had a similar experience here or if I just caught it on a bad stay.
