I recently booked my first ultra long-haul flight and wow, the options from the US are growing fast. United's new San Francisco to Adelaide route starting this December caught my eye it’s the first direct US link to South Australia. American’s Dallas to Brisbane relaunch also sounds promising, especially with those Flagship Suites. It’s clear that these airlines are going all in on premium comfort for 16-hour-plus flights.
Honestly, I love the idea of skipping layovers and going nonstop to places like Singapore, Johannesburg, or Auckland. But I’m curious: do these marathon flights feel worth it in terms of comfort and jet lag recovery? Anyone tried one of these ultra long-haul routes recently? Would love to hear what made the experience bearable or brutal.
