Had to fly AA internationally since UA doesn’t serve this route (IAH–MIA–SVD). Did the AA status match to Executive Platinum so I could skip baggage fees and maybe score a CPU.
Honestly? It wasn’t terrible. No preboarding for elites, but the F meal was flavorful (ugly presentation, good taste). Magnolia Bakery still wins for dessert though. The lounges were mixed IAH was rough, MIA was okay.
Biggest surprise was how much attention I got as an Exec Plat. FAs thanked me multiple times and asked about my travels, which never happens as often on UA 1K flights. Overall, I still think UA has the better product, but AA wasn’t the disaster I expected.
