I’m doing two weeks in Switzerland in June and I’m stuck on how to plan the Alps portion.
I leave Zurich on the 11th and already have Lucerne booked starting on the 16th, so I’ve got 5 nights to fill in between.
My original idea was:
Zurich → Chur
Glacier Express to Zermatt
Spend a few days around Zermatt
But I keep seeing mixed opinions about the Glacier Express being overly touristy, so now I’m second guessing it.
Would love advice on:
Best places to base myself for alpine scenery
Whether Zermatt is worth it or if Interlaken / Thun / somewhere else makes more sense
Must see routes or scenic trains that are better alternatives
Budget isn’t really an issue and I’m happy to move around if it’s worth it. Just want great scenery and a memorable Alps experience.
