This was my first time using Booking.com and honestly it’s been a mess.
First issue: I booked a place and on check in day it looked nothing like the photos. I used the “cancel without fee” option and the property accepted it. A week later, the property comes back and says no refund. Apparently “without fee” just means they don’t charge a cancellation fee, not that you actually get your money back? That feels incredibly misleading.
Second issue happened the same day. I had to urgently book another place. I booked from my wishlist, filtered by price, showing $70 per night. Went through the whole process, paid, and only after noticed I was charged $126 per night. Asked for the invoice and sure enough, nearly double the price. The property itself has a fixed $70 rate year round. I even tried to recreate the same booking afterward and it still shows $70 per night all the way to the payment page.
I don’t know if there’s some dynamic pricing thing going on or what, but it feels shady. Between this and the total lack of help from Booking support, I’m pretty much done. Both the properties and Booking just keep passing me back and forth and support has basically ghosted me.
I still have several upcoming bookings, but this has been a horrible first experience.
