I remember being at a Caribbean resort when a medical emergency unfolded by the pool, and even though it wasn’t nearly as serious as what just happened at Carnival’s new Celebration Key, it really shook me. The lifeguards rushed in, people froze, and the whole festive atmosphere turned heavy in an instant. Reading about two Americans drowning there on the same day hit hard I can picture the chaos and how helpless other guests must have felt watching it happen.
When you’re on vacation, you expect these spots to feel carefree and safe, especially with lifeguards around. But moments like this remind you how quickly things can go wrong. I’ve definitely been more cautious about snorkeling or swimming at resorts since then.
