We have been trying to fly from Canada to Beirut using Turkish Airlines, but we keep running into repeated cancellations on the Istanbul to Beirut and Beirut to Istanbul segments.
We originally booked 4 tickets in March for April travel, but those flights were cancelled. We then rebooked for May 22 (2 tickets) and May 29 (2 tickets), and those were also cancelled about 7 weeks in advance. After that, we booked again for June (2 tickets) and July (2 tickets), planning around pet travel requirements so we could split the trips.
Now, as of May 13, our June 10 flights have been cancelled again, while the Canada–Istanbul portions remain unaffected. This pattern has been extremely frustrating and stressful, especially since we are coordinating pet transport, veterinary checks, and export paperwork that all require significant planning.
We understand alternatives like MEA exist, but they are far more expensive, especially once you factor in per-ticket costs and pet fees. If these cancellations were expected due to operational issues, it would be better not to sell the flights at all.
At this point, after multiple cancellations across April, May, and June, we are seriously considering switching airlines entirely.
