I booked ORD–IST–AMM for mid May, but I just got a notification that my IST–AMM segment (TK820) has been cancelled due to “force majeure / operational reasons.”
The cancellation is happening about a month in advance, which surprised me. I noticed there are still other airlines operating the IST–AMM route, so I’m wondering what the reasoning is behind this.
Is it normal for Turkish Airlines to cancel flights this far out even when the route is still being served by other carriers?
Also, does anyone know if Amman flights from Istanbul are currently running, or if this is part of ongoing regional disruptions?
Just trying to understand what’s going on and what my options might be.
