My Turkish Airlines flight from JFK to Istanbul was canceled because of an engine failure. They gave us a hotel for the night, but nobody seems to know when we’ll actually be rebooked. The next few days already look completely full and they just told us to wait for an email update.
I booked business class using points, and now this disruption is probably going to ruin a large part of my trip. I’m also likely going to miss several tours and activities that are probably non-refundable.
Since I didn’t buy travel insurance, I’m trying to understand what I can realistically request reimbursement for and how compensation works in situations like this.
Definitely a painful lesson learned.
