TSA scanner at EWR mangled my pastries

Flying out of EWR Terminal A today. Sent my backpack in one bin and a small pastry box (gift for my wife), wallet, phone, and headphones in another. When it came out, the pastries were crushed and popped out mangled three bins later.


TSA just shrugged and said “it happens sometimes, oh well, scan a QR code and complain.” Seriously? Paid $40 for them. Any chance they actually reimburse for stuff like this?
