I had an unusual experience at the airport and wanted to get some perspective. I was flying out of IAH and, after smoking outside, went into the restroom before heading through security. While in a stall, I used a small amount of perfume.
As I was washing my hands, a TSA agent entered and asked if I had sprayed something. I confirmed and showed her the bottle. She then asked me to spray it again, saying the smell seemed different. I explained that I had just come inside after smoking and that it was the only perfume I had. She also asked what I had been smoking, which I answered honestly.
The interaction felt quite intense, as she seemed very suspicious and continued observing me closely for a while. Eventually, I asked if there was an issue or if I had done anything wrong, and she said no and left.
I’m a frequent traveler with TSA PreCheck and have never experienced anything like this before. I’m curious if this is a normal type of interaction or if others have had similar experiences.
