A friend of mine is traveling to China next week with his fiancée. I helped him plan the trip and suggested using Trip.com to pre-book train tickets so they’d automatically secure them once sales opened.
They had four train rides planned and pre-booked all of them as soon as they were available.
A few days ago he got a message from Trip saying there were no tickets available and that he had been placed on a waitlist. We checked ourselves and sure enough the trains were completely sold out with no alternatives showing.
Today the same thing happened with another one of their trains. The only option we could find was a train five hours later, and even that only had two seats in different cars.
I was a bit surprised since this isn’t really peak travel season. I also have a China trip planned in May, so now I’m wondering if this kind of thing happens often.
Has anyone else had Trip.com fail to secure train tickets even when pre-booking as early as possible?
