My partner and I took the NYC–NOLA route in a bedroom just to try long-distance train travel, and honestly, it wasn’t worth the price. The room was worn down, a few things broken, and the service was pretty rude both ways. The café car was often closed, and the food… exactly what you’d expect.
I really wanted to love the experience, but for the cost, I’d say skip it and just fly and that’s coming from someone scared of flying.
