Travellers be careful around Anchorage trail

I’ve done the Basher Trail a few times, and reading this gave me chills. That woman was incredibly lucky to have cell service and the presence of mind to stay on the phone while injured. Props to the rescue teams for finding her fast with a drone that trail can get remote in a hurry. The fact that the bear vanished makes me uneasy though. Definitely reconsidering any solo hikes in that area for now.

Hearing that a woman got mauled by a brown bear there and couldn’t even walk out is jarring. Definitely rethinking my approach to solo hikes in Alaska.

Anyone else ever had a bear encounter up there?
