Hi everyone,
I’ve been traveling around Southeast Asia for the past few months and started the trip with almost 30 kg of luggage. Pretty quickly I realized that moving around with that much stuff is exhausting. My back is constantly hurting and I’m also spending a lot on checked baggage fees.
I keep seeing people who manage to travel for months or even years with just a carry-on backpack, and I’m trying to move toward that kind of setup, but I’m still figuring out how people make it work.
A few things I’m curious about:
How many clothes do you usually bring?
What size backpack do you use and what brand?
Do you manage to stay under 7–10 kg?
Have airlines ever given you trouble if your bag is slightly over the carry-on limit?
Would really appreciate hearing what works for people who’ve been doing long-term travel this way. Looking for some practical tips or packing hacks.
Thanks!
