My wife and I are traveling to Italy in May with both sets of parents (six people total). I know… slightly crazy, but it should be fun.
The plan so far:
Rome – 4 nights
Sorrento area – 4 nights (May 13–17)
Sicily – 1 week
Rome and Sicily are pretty much sorted in terms of accommodation and transportation, but I’m still unsure about the Sorrento portion.
Would it make sense to rent a van for all six of us, or would that be more trouble than it’s worth? I’ve heard parking can be difficult and the roads are narrow.
Other options I’ve been considering:
Renting two smaller cars
Just using trains and taxis
We’ll probably want to do a few day trips while we’re there — Amalfi, Naples, Pompeii, etc.
I’m comfortable driving, but I also don’t want transportation stress to end up ruining part of the trip.
