This post hit a nerve for me. I’ve noticed the same thing over the years. Stuff that used to feel spontaneous now feels like a spreadsheet exercise. Timed tickets, reservations months out, prices that make you double check you’re not on a scam site.
Places I remember as relaxed and local now feel like they exist mainly for Instagram. Even cities I love don’t feel the same once you’re funnelled through barriers and crowds everywhere you go.
I don’t think it’s just getting older. Overtourism, social media, and higher costs really have changed the vibe in a lot of places. Some experiences honestly feel like they’re gone for good.
Makes me glad I traveled when I did, and also makes me want to prioritize the trips I keep putting off. Feels like the window really is closing on a certain kind of travel.
