Flew home after Christmas with my kids and brought a projector screen my brother wasn’t using anymore. Definitely oversized, but I figured it’d be maybe $35 or $75 like before.
Nope. $235.
At that point I either paid it or ditched it at the airport, which felt wrong. And I wasn’t about to call my brother to leave work and come get it.
Southwest used to be my go-to because of free checked bags and reasonable policies. Now checked bags cost $35 and oversized is somehow $235. That’s wild.
Lesson learned. Don’t show up with anything you’re not willing to abandon. My long streak of loyalty to Southwest pretty much ended at that counter.
