I’m about 4 weeks into a 5 week stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott and just got told that starting tomorrow, made to order omelettes are no longer included in the complimentary Titanium breakfast.
Apparently this is a corporate change for resort properties without lounges. Omelettes now require a $17 upcharge as part of the full buffet. What really rubbed me the wrong way is that they weren’t planning to honor existing stays or reservations. Just a one day heads up and that’s it.
I like this hotel a lot and I wasn’t even using breakfast every day, but changing the terms mid stay feels pretty unfair. Especially when breakfast is one of the main reasons I stay here in Waikiki. As it stood, the only complimentary protein option left would’ve been peanut butter, which is kind of wild.
I’m Titanium with Marriott and Diamond with Hilton, so I do have choices. This almost made me write this place off completely.
Update though. Management stepped in and agreed to honor the omelettes for the remainder of my stay, which I really appreciate. This was never about the eggs themselves so much as the surprise mid stay change. Huge credit to the local team here. I still love this hotel. I’ll just know what to expect next time.
