I’m currently spending a week in Paris on my own and decided to take a day trip to Giverny to visit Monet's House and Gardens. It turned out to be an amazing experience and I’d definitely recommend it if you have the opportunity.
I took an early morning train to Vernon-Giverny and returned in the afternoon. For transportation between the station and the gardens, I used Uber both ways, which was convenient.
My biggest recommendation is to purchase tickets in advance.
I arrived around opening time and the regular ticket line was already extremely long. I had a timed-entry ticket, so I was able to enter through a separate queue at my assigned time. I noticed someone standing in the standard ticket line while I arrived, and after I finished my visit over an hour later, that same person was still waiting.
The village itself was also charming and made for a relaxing day. I had time to walk around and enjoy lunch nearby.
The visit was wonderful overall, but waiting for hours in a long line, especially in hot weather, could have made the experience much less enjoyable. Buying timed tickets beforehand can save a significant amount of time.
