Feels like overnight every restaurant added a “pickup tip” screen. Even fast-food places and budget chains are doing it now. I was looking at a vegan fast-food spot for an online order and got hit with the tip prompt, checked a bunch of other places… same thing everywhere.
I know I can just hit “no tip,” but it really does feel like it’s become expected, and a tiny part of me wonders if saying no annoys the staff or risks my order getting the “whatever” treatment. Ordering in person feels a little safer because they see you, but even the counter iPad now asks for a tip.
Anyone else deal with this? Am I overthinking it, or do you just ignore the prompt and move on?
