If you're flying out of Southern California today, heads up severe thunderstorms prompted the FAA to halt operations at LAX, Long Beach, and John Wayne airports. The ground stop lasted into the afternoon, with LAX paused until 3:45 p.m. and the others until 4 p.m. I was stuck waiting for updates at John Wayne, and the delay had everyone pacing near the gates. Crazy how quickly weather can throw travel plans into chaos.
Apparently, warnings were issued in parts of Riverside and northern LA County, and there was even a flash flood alert in Twentynine Palms.
Have any of you been caught in SoCal flight delays due to weather before? Is it just me or does it feel way more unpredictable this summer?
