Booked a van online for about 500 bucks for 10 days. Show up at the Hertz counter in Ixtapa, they have my reservation… but “no vans available.” They tell me I can rent a Suburban for 5,000 USD if they can get it out of the shop. Ten times the price.
Then they pull out some sheet saying my original van was “really” worth 4k and I just got a great online deal but too bad, no vans left. They also claimed I didn’t buy insurance even though I showed them proof that I did.
Feels like they clocked my elderly father who started checking in before I got through customs. Whole thing seemed super sketchy.
Has anyone run into this at ZIH?
