Got pulled into the Marriott world after getting a credit card promo with 5 free night certs thought it’d be a fun perk. But man, trying to actually use them is a nightmare.
The 65k cap (50k cert + 15k points) kills so many options, and if one night goes over that, you have to split reservations or pay cash. Tried using them for a Maldives trip no luck. Tried Cancun also blocked because it counts as a “points upgrade.”
It’s wild how complicated Marriott makes something that’s supposed to feel like a reward. Honestly feels like the certs are more trouble than they’re worth.
