I have genuinely never seen this before.
My assigned seat had a structural pillar right in front of it, meaning there was basically no legroom and nowhere to properly place my bag. It was also the only seat like this on the entire aircraft.
When I complained, the flight attendant told me that moving me to another seat would require paying a $100 upgrade fee for “Even More” premium seating. After noticing my frustration, he did end up giving me some extra complimentary snacks.
This was on a JetBlue flight with a standard fare ticket.
Later, I contacted JetBlue and received a callback a few hours later, but I was just guided through filing an online complaint rather than receiving any immediate resolution.
