Honestly? The Citi Strata Elite card feels like it wants to compete in the high-end travel space but doesn’t quite land the knockout punch.
It’s trying 12x on hotels, 6x on flights, big credits, lounge passes but it’s a bit patchwork. The lack of bank-branded lounges is a miss when Amex and Chase are doubling down there. The rewards sound good on paper, but locking them into Citi’s portal limits flexibility. And the online bonus? Lower than in-branch? That just feels outdated.
If you're deep into the Citi ecosystem or fly American Airlines a lot, it might work. But for the rest of us? It’s a wait and see not a must-switch.
I feel like it’s almost there but not quite. Curious if they tweak it over time or if it fades into the “cool idea, mid execution” category.
