Just came across the 2025 rankings for America’s busiest airports, and it’s no shock that ATL is still the seat-capacity king. But ORD surprised me with its surge it’s now leading in daily aircraft movements, averaging over 800 flights a day! DEN and DFW are keeping things tight in the top 5 too. Interesting to see how growth differs by metric: ATL has more seats, ORD more movements, and DEN is booming thanks to its central location.
What I find cool is how these numbers reflect airline strategies banked schedules at legacy hubs vs. rolling flights at leisure-focused airports. It’s not just about who’s busiest anymore, it’s about how airports are being used. Have you flown through any of these recently? Did it feel like one of the busiest in the country?
