I just watched the ATC exchange from Newark where a private Twin Commander pilot got lost taxiing and the controller hit him with, it’s not confusing for me. Honestly, I couldn’t help but laugh but also cringe. I’ve been around enough airports to know EWR’s taxiways are no joke, especially at night, and those instructions were long enough to lose anyone.
Sure, the pilot could have been better prepared, but I think the controller’s job is to make things easier, not harder. That line might’ve been funny in hindsight, but in the moment? Probably not helping.
Newark has a reputation for being a tough place to operate, and this just felt like a classic case of frustration boiling over. If you’ve flown into Newark, do you think this was just business as usual or did ATC drop the ball here?
