That $21 UK Entry Fee? Here’s What I Think as a Frequent Traveler

As someone who visits the UK and Europe every couple of years, I’m not thrilled that we now have to apply for electronic travel authorizations and that the fees are rising. The UK's ETA now costs about $21, and Europe’s upcoming ETIAS will be $23 when it launches in 2026. It’s not the end of the world, but it does feel like we’re getting nickel-and-dimed more every year just to travel.

That said, applying is supposed to be fast and mostly online. I just got my UK ETA, and it only took a day to process. Still, with both the UK and EU having separate systems now, it adds one more layer of prep that we didn’t have to deal with before. Anyone else feeling a bit frustrated by all these new travel hoops?
