Took a 4-hour cross-country train journey in the UK
Booked about a month in advance on Great Western Railway
Paid for a first class upgrade
Specifically requested a window seat and forward-facing seat
Called ahead to confirm and was told everything was fine
When I boarded:
Assigned a rear-facing seat next to a wall
Train was fully booked so staff said they could not change it
This has happened before, so I even double-checked with customer service in advance, but still ended up with a seat I did not request.
I am not from the UK, so I am wondering if there is anything else I should be doing next time to actually get the seat I book or request?
