I had no idea how bad it is until I read this. Apparently over 90% of Texas beaches had at least one day last year where the water wasn't safe to swim in due to bacteria. That’s not just gross, it’s risky especially for kids. The article mentioned stomach bugs, rashes, infections, all from a harmless beach day.
I’m going to start checking the Texas Beach Watch site before heading to Galveston or anywhere else. And skipping the beach completely for a few days after it rains? Makes total sense now.
Curious if anyone here has actually gotten sick from swimming in questionable water? Or found any good tools/apps to check real-time safety?
