Quick warning for anyone around Napoli or Pompei.
We took a taxi from the Pompei archaeological park to the main train station. Paid 15 euros, which felt a bit steep for such a short ride, but we were tired after about 5 hours walking and did not feel like doing the 25 minute walk back.
Halfway there the driver suddenly tells us there is flooding between Pompei and Napoli and trains are delayed by 2 hours. It had barely rained. Then he offers to drive us all the way to Napoli for 60 euros so we would not miss our train to Rome.
We decided to just check at the station first. Surprise, everything was running perfectly fine.
So yeah, if a taxi driver tells you your train is canceled or massively delayed, double check before agreeing to anything.
