Got hit with a sketchy taxi at JFK, even from the official stand. Driver agreed to the flat fare to Manhattan but started the meter anyway, then claimed it was “broken” and tried to make me pay extra for gas after taking a weird detour through Queens.
I only paid the standard fare+tip and reported him. Just a heads up, always confirm the flat fare, check their ID, and keep proof.
