I normally prefer flying Delta and have been loyal for around 30 years, but for an upcoming mid-May mid-week trip, I compared options through my work travel portal.
A United flight to IAD was priced at $413, while the comparable Delta option was $640. The price difference made it difficult to justify sticking with Delta this time.
In addition, the United option is a nonstop flight, which avoids a layover in ATL, making it more convenient overall.
Although I still prefer Delta, I decided to book with United due to the cost savings and direct routing. I am now considering signing up for United’s frequent flyer program, even though it feels like a change after being a long-time Delta customer.
Looking for thoughts from others who have made similar switches based on pricing and routing differences.
