Hello, I’m a new CPAP user and will be flying to Taiwan with Starlux Airlines in a couple of weeks. I don’t plan to use the device during the flight, only at the hotel after arrival.
I’ve read that medical devices are generally exempt from standard carry-on baggage limits. However, when I contacted Starlux, the representative told me I need to complete a Medical Information Form, have it signed within 10 days of departure, and submit it for approval.
They also mentioned that my CPAP would still count as one of my carry-on items. This seems to conflict with information on their website, which states that medical or assistive equipment can be brought onboard without being counted toward the normal cabin baggage allowance.
I’m trying to understand how this actually works in practice. Has anyone traveled with a CPAP or similar medical device on Starlux Airlines, and was it counted as carry-on baggage? Also, are there any other steps I should complete before my flight to avoid issues?
